Summary:Background : Exclusive breastfeeding coverage since 2012 until 2015 has been in fluctuated rate. Severe outcome might occur to babies who are not given exclusive breastfeeding, for example death risk from diarrhea and malnutrition. In raising the rate of exclusive breastfeeding, families and health practitioners are expected to be supportive, especially midwives. This research aims to analyze the correlation between knowledge and attitude of midwives with their performance regarding exclusive breastfeeding coverage. Method: This research is observational analytic with cross sectional approach. 104 midwives who work at Tana Toraja region were used as samples taken using areal sampling. Independent variables are age, work period, knowledge, attitude motivation and training, while dependent variable is midwives’ performance. Data was analyzed with chi-square test at significance value α=0,05. Results : results of this study found that 57 midwives had positive attitude (54.8%), 49 midwives with good knowledge (47.1%) and 53 found to have lack of training (51.0 %). There is no relationship between age, work duration and motivation, knowledge and training with midwives performances. There is relationship between attitude with midwives performances. Conclusion : Probability good attitude midwives performances about 48%. Keyword : knowledge, attitude, midwives’ performances, exclusive breastfeeding.
