Drug use in pregnant women must be considered because it can affect pregnancy and fetus. Insulin is used as a primary therapy for diabetes in pregnancy because it can control glycemic well and has the advantage of not being able to penetrate the placenta. The purpose of this study was to describe the profile of insulin use for the treatment of diabetes in pregnancy. This study was conducted retrospectively with descriptive analysis from the period of 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2017 in the Obstretic Clinic of Hospital Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. The type of bolus insulin used was Aspart (61.54%), and basal insulin was Detemir (38.46%). Basal bolus insulin that is commonly used is Aspart and Detemir (62.5%). Insulin dosage was administered individually considering blood glucose profiles and individual responses. In this study, we found several patients who were thought to have hypoglycemic adverse effects (11.54%). It can be concluded that pregnancy patients with DM who receive insulin therapy, are adjusted according to their individual conditions. In addition, those who received insulin therapy still had uncontrolled blood glucose and there were three patients who experienced hypoglycemia. Therefore, further research is needed regarding the use of insulin use in pregnancy. 2018 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text id http://repository.unair.ac.id/77000/1/FF.FK.%2049-18%20Fat%20s%20Abstrak.pdf text id http://repository.unair.ac.id/77000/2/FF.FK.%2049-18%20Fat%20s.pdf LIA FATMAWATI, 051411131026 (2018) POLA PENGGUNAAN INSULIN PADA KEHAMILAN DENGAN DIABETES MELLITUS (Studi di Poli Hamil RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya).
