Summary: | Objective : This study aims to know the profile of Dengue virus infection patient in
Dr. Soetomo General Hospital in Surabaya in 2015 to 2016.
Method : This is a descriptive and observational study. Sample gathered in this study
were infected with Dengue virus and admitted to Rosella 1 and 2 Tropical Section in
Dr. Soetomo General Hospital. Patient’s medical records which contains complete
record and contains IgG and IgM examination results were taken as sample of this
study. Sample was taken with non-random sampling method. Variable of this study
were patient’s age, sex, education, occupation, duration of fever, address, type of
infection, severity and duration of admission. The data was analyzed by descriptive
means.
Result : we found that most of the patients were in 15-19 years old group (26,7%),
female (53,3%), graduated from Senior High School (65,7%), working in private
sector (36,3%) ,most of the patient were living in East Surabaya (40,7%). Most of the
case have fever in 3th until 5th day, with (75,6%) of the patients having secondary
infection, most of patients were classified as Grade I Dengue (51,9%) and admitted
in the hospital for 3-7 days.
Conclusion : Most of the patients were categorized as 15-19 years old in age, the
ratio between women and men is 1,1 :1, graduated from Senior High School, and
working in private sector, most of having fever in 3th until 5th day. Most of the patient
were living in East Surabaya. Most of the cases were secondary infection,
categorized as Grade I Dengue Fever and admitted for 3 to 7 days in hospital.
