Description
Summary:Escherichia coli is generally treated with antibiotics, but the use of antibiotics that cause resistance and expensive to be a control for breeders. So it is must to find an alternative treatment of the utilization of plants that contain antibacterial. Ingredients in mimba leaves such as azadirachtin, flavonoid, saponin, tannins and nimbi have antibacterial. Properties an antibacterial test of mimba leaf extract (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) was done on the growth of Escherichia coli. Mimba leaf powder was extracted with 96% ethanol solvent by maceration then concentrated by using rotatory evaporator to produce viscous extract. This research use dilution method in vitro. The concentrations used are 2%, 3%, 4%,5% and 6%. Dilution method for determining MIC (Minimum Inhibitory concentration) and MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration) the result show that mimba leaf extract antibacterial properties, , the results obtained are at a concentration of 5% mimba leaf extract capable of kill Escherichia coli in vitro.
