Description
Summary:This research aims to understand the effect of juwet (Syzygium cumini) leaves extract as adjuvant treatment in kidney histopathological changes such as, tubular necrosis, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis in mice (Mus musculus) infected by Plasmodium berghei. Twenty five mouses are divided into five mices for 5 groups which are K0 without infection and treatment, K1 infected by Plasmodium berghei without treatment, K2 infected by Plasmodium berghei with chloroquine P1 infected by Plasmodium berghei with juwet (Syzygium cumini) leaves extract and P2 infected by Plasmodium berghei with chloroquine and juwet (Syzygium cumini) leaves extract as adjuvant therapy. The data is analyzed by using Kruskal Wallis Test continued by using Mann-Whitney U Test. The result showed significant differences (P<0,05) on tubular necrosis, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis of group K1 and K0, K2, P1, P2 but there is no significant differences (P>0,05) on tubular necrosis, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis of group K2, P1, and P2. There is significant difference (P<0,05) on tubular necrosis, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis on K0 and K2, P1, P2. The result of this research conclude that juwet (Syzygium cumini) leaves extract as adjuvant therapy able to reduce the damage on kidney histopathological changes of mice (mus musculus) infected by Plasmdoium berghei
