Summary: | The aims of this study was to know about the antibacterial activity of
Kembang Bulan (Tithonia diversifolia) leaf extract against Staphylococcus
aureus. This study used eight isolated of S. aureus bacteria isolated from three
dairy farms Surabaya. Samples of this study used Tithonia diversifolia leaf
extract with concentration 10%, 5%, 2.5%, 1.25% and 0%. This study used disk
diffusion method, and inhibition zone measured in millimeters to determine the
antibacterial activty of Tithonia diversifolia leaf extract. Based on the result of
this study, showed that eight samples (100%) are positive has antibacterial activity
against S.aureus with 5% and 10% concentration of Tithonia diversifolia leaf
extract due to the presence of sesquiterpenes in Tithonia diversifolia that has
antibacterial activity. Meanwhile Tithonia diversifolia leaf extract with 0%, 1.25%
and 2.5% did not showing any antibacterial activity against S.aureus. |
