Summary:Semen storage in cold temperature can cause an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.This condition reduces the spermatozoa qualities. The aim of this study was toanalyze the effect alpha tocopherol supplementation on the quality of spermatozoa such as motility, viability, and plasma membrane integrity. The semen samples were collected from Sapudi rams. The research samples were divided into four treatment groups. The control treatment (P0) did not contain alpha tocopherol. The other three treatments, such as treatment 1 (P1) contained alpha tocopherol at 0.25g / 100mL, in treatment 2 (P2) contained alpha tocopherol at 0.5g / 100mL, and for treatment 3 (P3) contained alpha tocopherol at 1g / 100mL. Each treatment was added with egg yolk skim milk diluent, and semen. The highest maintenance for spermatozoa motility was found in P2 which wa significantly different from P0 (p <0.05), highest maintenance for spermatozoa viability was found in P2, which was significantly different from P0 (p < 0.05), and highest maintenance for spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity was found in P2, which was significantly different from P0 (p <0.05). It can be concluded that alpha tocopherol with a concentration of 0.5g / 100mL egg yolk skim milk diluent effectively preserves the quality of Sapudi ram spermatozoa.
