Ekspresi VEGF pada Radang Kronis Mukosa Rongga Mulut Setelah Pemberian Fish Oil Ikan Lele (Clarias batrachus)
Background. Chronic inflammation can occur because the causal agent of tissue damage are settled within a long term period. If the inflammation is not resolved it will make the tissue damage wider. VEGF is one of growth factor that is necessary at the time of healing of chronic inflammation as signaling proteins in the process of angiogenesis. Fish oil Clarias batrachus are known to have a role as antioxidant that can accelerate the healing of chronic inflammation. Purpose. The aim of this study is to know expression of VEGF after provision of fish oil “ikan lele” Clarias batrachus. Methods. The study was conducted on 19 rats (Rattus novergicus), they were made to experience chronic mucosal inflammation by the application of hydrogen peroxide 10% and then given fish oil extracts in the third day of the treatment groups 1 and 2. Samples were decapitated on the third day after treatment and then made into preparations with IHC staining. Then the expression of VEGF counted quantitatively. Results. The amount of expression of VEGF in the treatment group were given fish oil extracts of catfish have higher averages 50.28 at 10% concentration, 32,71 at 5% concentration compared with the control group was 13,60. Conclusion. Fish oil extracts of catfish (Clarias batrachus) can increase the expression of VEGF in chronic inflammation condition at 10% level of concentration.
