Description
Summary:The development of chicken farming businesses can also encounter obstacles caused by several factors, one of it is the presence of infectious diseases including Newcastle Disease (ND). One of the wild birds in Indonesia which is often suspected of being able to spread ND in chickens is the Passerin bird. Therefore the purpose of this study is to detect the presence of ND antibodies in the serum of eurasian tree sparrow birds (Passer montanus) which are wildly located around Ponggok, Blitar, one of cities in Indonesia that has large chicken population. The study was begin on August 2019 at the Virology and Immunology Laboratory, Veterinary Microbiology department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. This research used thirty Passer montanus which has been decapitated its neck to get the blood serum. The serum of the sample treated first with pure chicken erythrocyte (100%) to clear the presence of non-specific inhibitors (NSIs). The treated serum was tested using Haemagglutination Inhibition test. Positive results if there is agglutination inhibition and negative results if there is agglutination occurs. Data obtained from the result are presented in descriptive format with present total positive and negative from the result of detection. The result showed that Newcastle Disease antibody has not detected in Passer montanus in Ponggok, Blitar, East Java, Indonesia
