Summary:The aims of researchs to measure para methoxy cinnamic acid (PMCA) dose and the effect of stratum corneum on its penetration parameter. Para methoxy cinnamic acid dose was observe by comparing with diclofenac sodium 1% on decreassing oedema of hind paw Wistar rat that had been induced with 1% caragenan suspension. On the penetration of PMCA study was performed by use of fullthick rat skin membrane and its without stratum corneum, in undersaturated PMCA concentration. Result of the study showed that PMCA exhibited antiinflamation topical effect 0.64 fold of 1% diklofenac sodium in the same route. Based on molarity equivalence calculation with diklofenac sodium, PMCA dose as antiinflamation topical was 8.7%. Regarding the PMCA penetration test had been concluded that there was a significant different statistically between flux of PMCA through fullthick rat skin membrane and none. Permeability of skin without stratum corneum was higher than the fullthick rat skin.
