Socket Preservation As A Pre Prothesis Making Preparation : A Case Report

The extraction of tooth can leads alveolar bone resorption around the socket. The impact of extraction is alteration of bone that can lead to excessive bone lose vertically and horizontally. It requires the socket preservation technique that can maintain the bone level and structure. Socket preservation has the advantages to be hard tissue augmentation and ridge collapse prevention agents. In this case, A-60 years old female patient reffered to Periodontic Departement Dental Hospital of Airlangga University with gangrene radix on tooth 13 as her chief of complaint. That tooth need to be extracted for pre prothesis making preparation purpose. Local anesthesia (2% licocaine with 1: 80.000 epinephrine) was administrated before socket preservation process. Then, the 13 was extracted while the soft tissue was separated from the bone by PPAEL. Socket curettage was performed, then the bone graft was applied inside the socket. Pericard membrane was put on socket preservation area then was sutured by figured eight suturing technique. Applied periodontal pack on it. Socket preservation procedures used to manage the tissue dimensional changes after extraction of tooth. These techniques considered as predictable procedures to reduce the possibility of larger bone augmentation in the future.
