Summary:Heat stress conditions can affect on low production of body antioxidants and conduce in cell damage such as apoptosis and necrosis. Secang wood extract as antioxidant could reduce detrimental effect of heat stress. This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of secang wood extract (caesalpinia sappan l.) on histopathology of rabbit jejunum villi and weight of digestive organs rabbit exposed with heat stress. This study using a completely randomized design method (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replication. A total of 20 male rabbit in 5 months age were kept in individual cages using addition of lights for 12 hours everyday (06.00 – 16.00). Rabbits were randomly selected on 4 groups of treatment which divided into K- (normal temperature + basal feed), K+ (heat exposure + basal feed), P1 (heat exposure + basal feed + secang wood extract 100mg / kg of feed + 1,5% CMC Na), P2 (heat exposure + basal feed + secang wood extract 300mg / kg of feed + 1,5% CMC Na). This experiment recorded for 28 days. The results of the study were tested for normality using Shapiro-Wilk, the results were stated uniformly then continued the analysis using analysis of variance with a significance level (p <0.05). The results show a significant value (p <0.05) on height of jejunum villi and gastric weight, but the value had no significant effect (p> 0.05) on weight of the intestinal tract.
