STUDI PERUBAHAN KONSENTRASI DO DAN BOD SERTA FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHINYA DENGAN PEMODELAN QUAL2K (STUDI KASUS SUNGAI KAPUAS, KALIMANTAN BARAT)
Modeling of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) in Kapuas River using QUAL2K has been conducted to study the effects of climatology, water temperature, flow and BOD concentration of waste, distance of waste disposal, river flow, and condition of DO-BOD on headwater. The impact...

Summary: | Modeling of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand
(BOD) in Kapuas River using QUAL2K has been conducted to study the effects
of climatology, water temperature, flow and BOD concentration of waste,
distance of waste disposal, river flow, and condition of DO-BOD on headwater.
The impact of waste disposal and the change of head water to the change of DO-
BOD of Kapuas River were also predicted.
Segment of Kapuas River was along 27 km and divided into seven parts
with the length of 2,5-4,5 km. The data required in this study was obtained from
the related agencies. Variables employed were cloud cover (25, 50 and 75%), air
temperature (21.43, 27.77 and 37.03 °C), wind speed (0.3, 1.4 and 3.2 m/second),
water temperature (24.83, 27.50 and 30.90 °C), flow of waste (1-2 m/sec), BOD
concentration of waste (110, 220 and 400 mg/L), distance of waste disposal (7, 14
and 21 km from head water), river flowt (175.291, 651.487 and 1019.289
m
3
/second) and DO-BOD of river headwater. The modeling of the effect of the
change in Kapuas River was conducted with the assumptions of the river debit on
dry season, the headwater condition fulfil the water quality index class of II and
III, the population increased was 2% annually and the industrial development was
2.6% annually.
The resuls showed that the cloud percentage, air temperature, wind speed,
water temperature, flow of waste, BOD concentration of waste, distance of waste
disposal and river flow affected DO-BOD on the river. The prediction showed
that Kapuas River fufil the criteria of water quality index class II. If there is
pollution on the head water, the water quality of Sungai Kapuas will be class III. |
