Summary:Obesity is excess body weight as a result of lipid accumulation in fat cell occurs due to intake high fat and carbohidrat along with a lack energy expenditure through phisical activity. Central obesity characterized by increasing waist circumference is a stronger predictor than peripheral obesity in predicting progression of coronary heart disease, vasculer death, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Insulin resistance is biological disorders of the body response to exogenous and endogenous insulin. The concentration of free fatty acids, tryglicerides, LDL cholesterol and APO B was higher obese than nonobese subject. The aims this study to evaluate the correlation between index HOMA-IR with triglycerides in central obesity population non diabetes melitus. The study used a cross sectional design. The subjects of this study were employee of Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta, aged �30y who had undergone general check up. This study has been started since October 2010 and had signed informed concent. Data were taken from subjects by anamnesis, physical examination was waist circumference and laboratory examination included fasting glucose, tryglycerides and fasting insulin. Data were analyzed by Independent t-test or Mann whitney test for continue data, Chi square test or Fisher exact test for category data and correlation index HOMA-IR with triglycerides were analyzed by Pearson�s correlation or Spearman�s correlation with computerized analyzed depends on the distribution data.
