Ministry of Forestry has issued a number of environmental management mandatory policies for Utilization of Forest Timber Product in Plantation Forest -PF) activities, among them are Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Sustainable Forest Management Certification (SFM-C). EIA is carried out at the planning phase, and SPHL is carried out at the operational phase. Therefore, it is necessary to study the effectiveness of EIA to support PHL. in PT. SPA and PT. SPA Unit Serapung The objectives of this study are : 1) to review EIA policies of IUPHHK- HTI activities in supporting SFM-C, 2) to study the quality of certified management unit (MU)�s EIA document , 3) to assess the compliance of environmental management and monitoring activities with the criteria and indicators for SFM in PT. SPA and PT. SPA Unit Serapung, and 4) to understand the environmental management and monitoring implementation of certified MU in PT. SPA and PT. SPA Unit Serapung. In this research, both qualitative and quantitative analysis were used, based on variables that have been determined. UFTP- The results of the research were : 1) PF�s EIA policies should be improved to support SFM goal achievement, 2) EIA document qualities of the MUs were moderate tend to bad as a result of improper guidelines and the lack of EIA consultant experties, 3) the fulfillment level of environmental management and monitoring activities to SFM criteria and indicators and its verifiers, was theoretically high, and 4) the environmental management activities implementation of MUs was good, but for its monitoring activities was moderate, because the MUs didn�t evaluate their social parameters, so that the effectiveness level was moderate too.
