PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN KONSENTRAT DALAM BENTUK PELET DAN MASH PADA PAKAN DASAR RUMPUT LAPANGAN TERHADAP PALATABILITASNYA DAN KINERJA PRODUKSI KELINCI JANTAN

This research was conducted to observe the feed preferency and performance of bucks on the pellet and mash forms of feed concentrate. Twenty Flemish Giant bucks were used in this study, with initial body weight of 2.47±0.21 kg divided randomly into 2 treatment groups, pellet and mash concentrate. R...

Twenty Flemish Giant bucks were used in this study, with initial body weight of 2.47±0.21 kg divided randomly into 2 treatment groups, pellet and mash concentrate. Research divided into 3 phase, adaptation phase was carried for 7 days continued with concentrate treatment involved palatability test during 10 days, then next phase was performance test during 40 days. Data collected were pellet and mash consumption, average daily gain (ADG), GIT (gastrointestinal tract weight), caecum and liver weight. Pellet or mash form given ad libitum simultaneously. Result showed that palatability of pellet was higher (P<0.05) than that given mash 24,04±2,25 vs 13,69±2,37 g/day. Performance test result showed that feed intake between pellet and mash feed has not significantly difference. Bucks ADG given pellet feed were higher (P<0,05) than that given mash of 17.40±5.91 vs 10.22±3.09 g/day. Final weight, meat weight, caecum length and liver weight in bucks given pellet were higher (P<0.05) than that given mash. On the other hand, GIT empty weight in bucks given mash higher (P<0.05) compared with bucks given pellet. It can be concluded that palatability of pellet form was better than that of mash. Pellet was more efficient to improve rabbit growth than that of mash.
