Description
Summary:Motor vehicle insurance especially third party liability insurance in developed countries is already a must for any residents who have vehicles. A system created to meet these needs, called Bonus-Malus System (BMS). BMS is a system introduced in the actuarial division of premium class (state) that are affected by the number of claims filed by policyholders in each year and has the objective to make the premium paid by the insured as close aspossible to the expectations of the occurance of claims each year. If we want to see how the efficiency of a BMS, we muat see how the premium is dependent on the frequency of claims. BMS efficiency sought through the Markov model, i.e by finding the stationary distribution of the Markov chains number of state involved in this system made it difficult to determine the stationary distribution on the BMS. Therefore, in this thesis studied to determine the stationary distribution of BMS using recursive methods. With this recursive method, the stationary distribution of BMS can be determined easily.
