This thesis is aimed to find out the significance of the United States presidential leadership in the case of World War II through Roosevelt�s role and how it influences the United States� domestic politics particularly and United States� position in the world politics generally. The study uses library research. The data were obtained from books, articles, journals, including materials from the internet. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, which all data obtained are analyzed and presented descriptively. From literature review, it is known that some writers have been written about Roosevelt�s life in various style of writing. Nevertheless they talk more on his psychobiography, his personal life and career. Here, the writer explored more on his leadership style and personal characteristics and how they play dominant role in Roosevelt�s policies during World War II. From the data and analysis, the writer has found that Roosevelt had decisive and strong characteristics as well the active-positive leadership style. He was friendly to people but this didn�t make him weak especially when he adopted competitive and conflict model among his advisers and assistants. His charismatic personality also plays a key role during his twelve years presidency. His education, family supports especially from his mother and his wife, his relationship with friends and colleagues, and personal beliefs became key factors which formed his leadership style and personal characteristics later influenced his attitude politically and personally. What Roosevelt had done brought significant changes to America and to the whole world as well. Thus the analysis answers the research questions and fits the hypothesis made previously in the Introduction.
