Rijanta, M.Sc. ETD This study focuses on the relationship between community involvement in Nanganae Kapenta state forest area, Bima Municipality and their livelihoods condition. In the end of 2009, local government unleashed a significant policy restricting access to the forest for almost all forest farmer group in the state forest area. Most of the farmers have been banned from activities in around this state forest area, except Forest Farmers Group Batawawi, that is considered still has commitment to preserve the green forest surrounding their territory. The policy bring consequences which vary from one forest farmer group to another, especially in term of their livelihood condition change. The main object of this study is about assessing the livelihoods condition shift in Batawawi who is still allowed to self-manage the forest and Forest Farmer Group Kapenta who now has no access anymore to the forest.
