| Summary: | The goal of this research is to know the description of society
empowerment condition in exploiting sea natural resource, the obstacles of
society empowerment which are faced in their exploitation and the society
empowerment as an effort to support the Family Economic Resilience in the
Tanjungsari District of Gunungkidul Regency.
This research is a survey research, by quailitative descriptive approach.
The samples are families who live near the sea area in three villages, namely
Kemadang, Banjarejo and Ngestirejo. The samples are decided in random, with
the total of 60 families, each village is taken 20 families as samples. Based on the
recived data by observation, interview and questionaer interview, the general
result can be concluded that: (i) The main activity sector of most people is
agriculture on the other hand, the potency and exploitation of sea natural resource
is still in low grade in wielding. The society empowerment in exploiting the sea
natural resource can be found especially in certain sub-villages or orchards where
located near the seashore area. The education level of the society is relatively still
low , education sector is not the first priority of life need in this area. The
catching fish exertion developes greater and greater, except in Krakal beach, the
existence and capacity of all land fishermen, have not been touched by the local
government at all. Local potency that can be developed is sea craft business and
small industry as cockle shell crafts, sea product processor, sea weeds, and
tourism. (ii). The main obstacle toward the exploitation of sea natural resources is
