Summary:Forest and Land Rehabilitation (FLR) is intended to gradually recover, maintain and improve forest and land resources in terms of production, protection and conservation functions. It is conducted in the forest area and out of the forest area that is determined according to the criteria of River Basin priority. This research was aimed at identifying 1) the implementation of activities of forest and land rehabilitation in Maibo Village, Aimas District, Sorong Regency, 2) the attitudes of the community towards community participation programs, counseling programs, and the success of forest and land rehabilitation program in Maibo Village, Aimas District, Sorong Regency, 3) the effect of attitudes of the community participation and counseling towards the success of forest and land rehabilitation program in Maibo Village, Aimas District, Sorong Regency. The research was conducted at Maibo Village, Aimas District. It was designed as a quantitative research using explanatory research approach that explains causal relationship between variables through hypotheses test. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation from library research. Data were analyzed using cross tabulation and using the structural equation model (SEM). The results indicated that public participation had increased. It showed the success of the FLR program. Based on the observation, the researcher and the officials of forestry agency noted that the success of FLR at Maibo Village could be seen from the land that had partly been reforested. It is suggested that government should evaluate and improve education programs to the community and encourage them to actively participate in order to succeed the FLR programs in West Papua Province, particularly Sorong Regency.
