Summary: | Cloud computing is a new way of utilizing information and
communication technologies that change the paradigm of computing from the
previously IT investments as an assets into a services. The direct impact from this
chage is on the IT budgeting from capital expenditure to operational
expenditure. This change is an opportunity to increase the adoption of IT within
SMEs that is still low. Adoption strategies are needed to allow the adoption
process running effectively and efficiently.
The purpose of this research is to study the application of the framework
ROCCA (Roadmap for Cloud Computing Adoption), the adoption of cloud
computing strategy, to SMEs through a case study conducted on the three SMEs
engaged in the information technology services. In addition, this study will also
investigate the factors and important aspects of the adoption of cloud computing
and its influence in the adoption process.
This research utilize case study method with a holistic multi-case approach
to analyze and explain the stages of adoption, an important aspect in the adoption
and the factors that influence the adoption of cloud computing in the context of
SMEs. This study uses a framework ROCCA (Roadmap for Cloud Computing
Adoption) developed by Shimba (2010) as a guidance for the analysis and
development of recommendations.
The findings of the study provide recommendations on the stage of
adoption of cloud computing within SMEs that can be divided into five stages i.e
analysis, planning, adoption, migration, and management. It also note the factors
driving cloud computing within SME are cost and ease of management. |
