Description
Summary:Theme-rheme construction is formed as language natural needs that can represent information expressed by speakers to hearers. In the information, it contains information status and information urgency. The findings of this research show that information status at theme-rheme construction in oral Banyumas Javanese consists of old and new information; information urgency consists of the most important information, important information, less important information and unimportant information. By the construction, elements at the theme-rheme construction (which consists of theme, rheme and supplement) have each information status and urgency. Furthermore, the theme-rheme construction forms “discourse” structure with other theme-rheme constructions so that it forms information structure, in which it is found some types of information structure in this research. There are structural and semantic relationships of interconstruction in the discourse structure that consists of some theme-rheme constructions. Not only does the relationship connect interconstruction cohesiveness and coherence, it also connects interinformation inside. Moreover, in the smaller scope, there are structural and semantic relationships of interaspect in a theme-rheme construction (interconstruction). It shows that each linguistic unit (although it is the smallest one, but meaningful) has structural and semantic continuity. The elements of theme-rheme construction can be determined by typical intonation and typical position. The rheme element is able to take place everywhere without intonation change. The theme element is only able to take place before the rheme. If it takes place after the rheme, the intonation will change and its position will also change into a supplement. The supplement takes place before or after the rheme (but not at the beginning of the construction). If it takes place at the beginning of the construction, its intonation will change and its position will also change into a theme. By the condition, the theme-rheme construction is mostly affected by intonation and structural patterns. However, the most important factor to determine theme-rheme is intonation pattern. Therefore, the discussion in this research is started from intonation patterns, structural patterns, intraconstruction and interconstruction relationships, and information ordering at theme-rheme construction in oral Banyumas Javanese. The data of this research are verbal data taken from utterances of Banyumas Javanese who were born, grow and live at Banyumas Regency. The data were analyzed linguistically and displayed informally. It is expected that the results of this research are beneficial for the development of Javanese researches and for the susbtainability of oral Banyumas Javanese.
