Human life cycle is tightly associated with the view of life and with our daily activities and can be read through the material culture that represents the development of thought within human life, as reflected within traditional toys. Traditional toys, especially gangsingan, dhakon, umbul wayang, and kudha lumping, play an important role in the development of the arts within a society. The social and cultural elements along with philosophical and aesthetic concepts of the traditional toys are researched using anthropological, sociological and aesthetic approaches. The variety of traditional toys is created not only as a means of play but also they represent a complex philosophical value and functional beauty. This complexity relates to world views, behaviors and daily activities of the user society. The process of making traditional toys becomes an arena for transmitting the experience, knowledge and skills from parents to children. This process of transmission enables children to make their own toys and at the same time train and develop their imagination, creativity and their skills that would become useful in their lives later on. The aesthetics of traditional toys lie in the functional beauty that can be enjoyed from the suitability, harmony and accuracy when created. Therefore, values of traditional toys become useful for the development of the arts that can be manifested in the daily life of a society.
