Summary: | The main objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of coal
transportation services investments and rental of heavy equipment to PT Nisma
Abadi Sejahtera (NAS) as a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of PT Natuna Energy
Indoensia (NEI). Investment activities are intended to support PT Bangun Energy
Indonesia (BEI) as companies that produce coal, which is also a Strategic
Business Unit (SBU) of PT Natuna Energy Indoensia (NEI). NAS investment
activities on the acquisition of transportation equipment, namely coal trucks and
heavy equipment to do the 5 year period is calculated from 2011 until 2015.
Actual acquisition of the truck was at the start by the end of 2010, but because the
amount is still less then the truck is considered to be obtained in early 2011.
Evaluate the feasibility of the investment using the method known as
capital budgeting, which is assessing the feasibility of an investment project based
on the estimated cash flows to be obtained from these investments. Some
parameters are in use to assess the investment that is Payback Period (PP), Net
Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Break Event Point
(BEP). Because the operations of the investment has been started in early 2011, it
will be seen also during the progress of the investment first 6 months of operation.
With the evaluation of the feasibility of investment NAS, it is known whether the
investment is worth to be forwarded or not. Investment activity is closely related
to cash flow in the future, it will be counted if there are changes in the sensitivity
analysis on the amount of goods and rents.
Capital costs in this study were 15% obtained from the calculation of
interest, the acquisition of a truck. Based on the projected cash flow over the next
5 years which have been prepared using assumptions, PP values obtained for 3.55
years, NPV Rp. 4.17 billion, an IRR of 20.46%, PI of 1.21 and BEP achieved in
the transport of 260 446 mt. From the results of these calculations can be
concluded that, based on the PP then the investment is not feasible to continue.
While based on the NPV, IRR, and PI, can be said that the investment is
appropriate to continue. |
