In pediatric patients, ARDS has high mortality rate approximately 25% as well as resulting in sequelae among surviving children such as restrictive and obstructive lung dysfunction, muscle weakness and hypotrophy, psychiatric, intelligence, and memory problems. The aim of the study is to identify prognostic factors related to oxygenation improvement in children with ARDS. We conducted a prospective cohort study in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. We included 20 children aged 29 days to 18 years who fulfilled ARDS criteria, undergone lung recruitment maneuver for 1 hour. We analyzed some prognostic factors associated with oxygenation improvement using logistic regression. We found no! significant! hemodynamic! changes! and! hypercapnea! on! all! subjects!during!lung!recruitment.!We!included!two!prognostic!factors!namely!type of ARDS (OR 0,17 95% CI 0,023 to 1,23, P= 0,079) and severity of ARDS (RR 0.74, 95% CI 0.007 to 0.84) in multivariate analysis.
