Description
Summary:The mechanism of brackets attachment is the bond between the adhesive with breket mesh and the adhesive with email. The bond between the adhesive with email are chemical and micromechanical. The bond between the adhesive with brackets mesh is mechanical only. Enamel of young permanent tooth is semi permeable and less resistant to acid. The research objective was to compare the shear strength of brackets attachment on young permanent teeth using self cured adhesive composite resin, light cured with and without bonding. This is an experimental laboratory research. Object of the study were 39 young maxillary premolar teeth which stored in saline solution after extraction. Teeth were divided into three groups, and attached with Roth brackets using self cured, light cured with and without bonding composite resin. The measurement was done using tensile strength tester (Kao Tieh) and ARI classification. One way ANOVA test and chi square test was done to determine differences in the shear strength of brackets attachment using self cured, light cured with and without bonding composite resin. The results showed a significant difference in the shear strength of brackets attachment using three different adhesive are indicated by one-way ANOVA test (p = 0.000) and chi square test (p = 0.039). Conclusion of this research is the shear strength of brackets attachment on young permanent teeth using light cured composite resin with bonding is higher compared to the other adhesive.
