Description
Summary:Gasification is an endothermic reaction process to convert biomass producing combustible gas called syngas. Gasification is done in a high temperature with limited oxygen. Biomass has high volatile matter, low carbon content, and moderate calorific value. Biomass which is used in this study are rice husk and sawdust. This study was done to determine the time of burning, fuel consumption rate, gasification process rate, the burning rate, power output and efficiency. his study T used gasification stove as a model, refers to an existing design by adding hopper at the top of the gasifier as a place to supply biomass during the stove operation. Research was done by testing the stove to boil water (Water Boiling Test). The volume of water was 1.5 L, the amount of biomass fuel was 0.5 kg. Variation of air velocity was 2 m/s, 2.5 m/s, 3 m/s, 3.5 m/s, 4 m/s and 4.5 m/s. Variations addition of biomass feed was 75 gr, 100 gr and 125 gr. Observations were done until the biomass in the gasifier didnt produce syngas anymore. esults show R s that the best efficiency of the stove with fuel gasification of rice husk is 17.24%. The air velocity of the best efficiency is 3.0 m/s and the addition of feed is 125 gr. While the best efficiency of gasification stove using sawdust fuel is 11.52%. The air velocity of the best efficiency is 2.5 m/s and the addition of feed is 125 gr. The increase of air velocity increases fuel consumption from 0.09 to 0.33 m/hr. The variations of feeding fuel stoves increases the operational time of 17% - 32%.
