Summary:The orthodontic elastic was one of the active component of the additional orthodontic equipment which was made of latex and non latex. Orthodontic elastic had to keep a precise power up in order to supply the ideal power. Clinical application showed that orthodontic elastic had rapid great rapid descent force decay. The descent force decay of the orthodontic elastic was influenced by the kind of the material, the artificial pH saliva and the temperature. The purpose of this study was to know the comparison of the force decay of the orthodontic latex elastic and the non latex elastic in artificial pH saliva of different kinds and different time. This study was done to 120 orthodontic latex and non latex elastics soaked in artificial saliva with pH 5, 7 and 8 with length time halh an hour, an hour, three hours and twenty four hours. Each group of soaking consist of 5 orthodontic elastic. The measuring of the pulling power was done before and after the soaking, using the pearsons electronic equipment. The results of this study showed that the kind of orthodontic elastic had the grade of significance 0,00 (p<0,05). The grade of artificial pH saliva 0,05 (p=0,05). The grade of time 0,00 (p<0,05). The grade of the interaction of the kind of material and artificial pH saliva 0,04. Whereas the grade of the significance of the comparison of the pulling strength of orthodontic elastic latex and non latex artificial pH saliva in different kinds and different time didn�t show different significance 0,54 (p>0,05). The conclusion : There was no difference of the comparison of the force decay of the orthodontic latex and non latex in artificial pH saliva of different kinds and different times.
