Human is basically driven by his or her desire. He or she will suffer from selfweakness as he or she detaches from his or her mother. The lack of the subject makes human seek his or her unity called desire. It is unfortunate that the desire for existential unity is unreachable. Eventually human gives his or her seemingly established, stable and holistic thing to symbolic authority, namely identity. Man of letter, poet, short story writer, and others are the intended identity, representing those who driven by their desire due to their inner lack. Any works produced by these people manifest their desire. This research aims to have a look at literary pieces� trilogy of N. Riantiarno�s Cermin (Cermin Merah, Cermin Bening, dan Cermin Cinta), in which the writer could find the desire of the writer�s unconsciousness. Lacanian psychoanalysis is applied to address to the issue. The first strategy used is metaphora and metonimia since theoretic assumption of Lacanian psychoanalysis deals with structured unconsciousness such as language. The method is instrumental in exposing the language role in metaphora and metonimia of the trilogy marked as Nano�s desire. The second strategy is to classify Nano�s desire into concepts of desire
