Description
Summary:The objective of this research was to compare the resistance of 3rd generation (F3) of genetic improvement nile tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) that produced at 4th rearing stage toward its original parents: Citralada, Filipina, and NIFI. This research was conducted on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that composed by 4 treatments (F3, Citralada, Filipina, dan NIFI) in triplicates. The unit experiments are 10 fishes on disease challenge and one fish on haematology. The parameters which been evaluated were survival rate (SR), mean time to death (MTD), haematocryt, leukocryt, eritrocyte count, leucocyte count, phagocytic activity (PA), and nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT). Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Dunnet test. Result showed that 3rd generation genetic improvement has significant different in NBT (Nitroblue tetrazolium)(OD mean 0,66) compare to citralada (OD mean 0,48). However, the other parentals strain didnt show the significant different. It was also showed in others parameters, i.e. survival rate (SR) and mean time to death (MTD), haematocryte, leukocryte, eritrocyte count, leucocyte count, phagocytic activity (PA). This research concluded that the 3rd generation of nila tilapia and its parental had same resistance against of Aeromonas hydrophila infection.
