Summary: | Strong economic fundamentals amid global economic crisis should be offset
by strengthening growth sectors of the business community. Bank Indonesia said that
to strengthen the growth of the business community, financial institutions in
Indonesia must provide a broader and larger credit support, thereby increasing the
competitiveness of the banks involved and provide a multiplier effect on economic
growth. But in fact, Bank Indonesia believes that the bank lending in recent years has
been slow. The author conducted a study to identify factors that influence lending by
commercial banks in Indonesia. Factors examined include Third Party Funds (TPF),
Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Return on Assets
(ROA), Non Performing Loan (NPL), and the BI rate.
In this study, the author used sample of commercial banks listed on the
Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2008 to 2011. A total of 22 samples were
obtained using a purposive sampling method with the criteria, so that when multiplied
by the years of the study, the total sample was 66. Furthermore, the author used a
multiple linear regression analysis method.
After passing several tests, the author obtained the result that the Third Party
Funds (TPF) and the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) has a positive influence on credit,
and the BI rate has a negative influence on the credit distribution. Furthermore, the
Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Return on Assets (ROA) has no positive effect on
lending and non-performing loans (NPL) has no negative effect on lending. |
