Corridor located in Tanjungpura street, Pontianak, is a part of Verkendepaal area. It was planned and built within Dutch colonialism. In the beginning, the corridor was the main service route in connecting all various functions of building and area. On the other hand, today, alongside the corridor in Tanjungpura street, the function has completely transformed into the biggest place of trade and s ervice corridor in Pontianak. The transformation can be seen in physical characteristic such as visual element in the building initially has indische style. In fact, nowadays, it changes into modern style influencing all of the visual characters along corridor. The purposes of the research are to find out the factors of design theme influencing the building toward visual character, to find out design element comprising and supporting main visual character, and to recommend design guideline in preserving special characteristic along corridor in Tanjungpura street. The study of this visual character employs semantic differential method combined with virtual reality technique. Then it is represented by questionnaire and valued by respondents to get visual element that is appropriate to the character of corridor in Tanjungpura street. The respondents come from architecture students who don�t live and stay in the site of research (Pontianak). The result and conclusion show that respondents propose the visual element that is appropriate to the corridor in Tanjungpura street is building having indische style. The visual element in the facade has a, a, a, a rhythm, and so on
