Summary: | This study aims to: (a) examine the relationship between family functioning
and adversity quotient with learning capacity based on self-regulation on teenagers,
(b) examine positive relationship between family functioning and learning capacity
based on self-regulation on teenagers, (c) test positive relationship between
adversity quotient and learning capacity based on self-regulation on teenagers. The
subjects in this study consisted of early adolescents aged 13-16 years, attending
junior high school, and living with the family. The numbers of subjects in this study
were 163 teenagers studying in Secondary School in Pekanbaru. The instrument to
collect data in this study was a scale based on the study of self-regulation which is
based on the aspects proposed by Zimmerman (1989), family functioning scale
which is based on the dimensions proposed by Epstein, Baldwin and Bishop (the
Sun & Cheung, 1997 ), and adversity quotient scale based on the dimensions
proposed by Stoltz (1997). Data were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis
and partial correlation. The results of regression analyzes was obtained coefficient of
multiple correlation R = 0.547 by F = 34.084 and a significance level of p = 0.00 (p
<0.01) which indicates that there is a relationship between family functioning and
adversity quotient based on self-regulation on teenagers, while the partial correlation
test results obtained 0.264 with p <0.01 which shows that there is relationship
between family functioning and learning capacity based on self-regulation on
teenagers, and partial correlation test results on the third hypothesis obtained 0.328
with p <0.00 that there is a relationship between adversity quotient and learning
capacity based on self-regulation on teenagers. Effective contribution which was
given to family functioning variable and adversity quotient to learning capacity based
on self-regulation on teenager was 29.9% |
