Therefore, solution is required for efficient energy saving. One of energy saving solution is remotely automatic controlling and monitoring system. New technology Internet of things can be used for these purposes. It integrates technology of sensor, actuator, wireless and computer. However, those technologies apply different protocols which lead no communication among them. Gateway will be developed in this research to solve the communication problems that is affected by the difference of communication protocol. This research is focuses on gateway development that is as a communication gate in the remotely automatic controlling and monitoring system at the building for saving of electricity usage. Gateway is build based on web technology using PHP, MySQL and C programming language. CGI concept is applied to develop it. This research activities have produced a prototype of gateway namely home gateway which works quite stable. It can control the sensors and actuators, can perform communication between the node and the coordinator, and can display light status for monitoring of the appliances. Based on measurement, request time average of the response is 1,332 second for light switch off and light switch on. Further, maximum distance of communication between node and coordinator is 32 ms for line of sight (LOS) and 23 ms for obstructed wall.
