Perio (K) ETD Radiotherapy is an effective methods for head and neck cancer treatment, however, this therapy has some side effect, all of them are decrease the immature of blood cells, decrease count of limphocytes, monocyte, platelet and leukocytes. Radiotherapy also decreases blood supply to the tissue resulting in decreasing amount of oxygen. The decreasing count of leukocyte and oxygen supply can increase the growth rate of anaerob bacteria. The aim of this study was to determine differences in the number of colonies of bacteria Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans gingival crevicular fluid before and after radiotherapy 20 Gy accumulated dose in patients with head neck cancer in RSUP Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta. The subjects used in this study consist of 10 patients of head and neck cancer, were divided into 2 group in the study of pre-test and post-test design. The first group are the patients before radiotherapy and second group is the same patients after radiotherapy accumulated dose 20 Gy. Two samples of gingival crevicular fluid is taken from each subject, so that the whole samples are 40 samples gingival crevicular fluid. These samples the cultured on AaGMBV agar and incubated for 24-48 hours at 37oC. The number of colonies of bacteria Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans gingival crevicular fluid calculated in units of 102 Colony Forming Units per milliliter (CFU / ml). The results showed that the average number of colonies of bacteria Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans gingival crevicular fluid in post-test group larger compared to pre-test group. The results analyzed by paired t-test showed significant differences (p <0.05) between the pre-test and post-test group. The conclusion of this study the accumulated dose of 20 Gy radiotherapy can increase the number of colonies of bacteria Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in gingival crevicular fluid head and neck cancer patients.
