Summary:This research was aimed to know kinds of personal pronouns (d}ami>r) in novel Al-Ga>`ib by Nawwa>l as-Sa�da>wi> and the using anaphora or kataphora. Besides that, it was also to know the distance between antecedent and personal pronouns. Novel Al-Ga>`ib was chosen because it had a lot of personal pronouns which the antecedent was changing in various distance. This research use symbol of reading method, it was anaphoricly and cataphoricly symbol. However symbol anaphoric system were more than symbol in cataphoric system. In novel Al-Ga>`ib was found 4511 d{ami>r ba>riz, that consisted of 419 d{ami>r munfas}il , 4092 d{ami>r muttas}il and 6433 d{ami>r mustatir . The d{ami>r munfas}il: huwa, huma, hum, hiya, anta, anti, ana>, nah}nu . D{ami>r muttas}il: -hu, -huma>, -hum, -ha>, -huma>, -ka/-ta, -ki/ti, -tu, -na>, and d{ami>r mustati>r: huwa, hiya, anta, ana>, nah}nu. The antecedent that were referred to personal pronouns were Fu`a>dah, Fari>d, Fuadah�s mother, Sa�ati, the major chairman, the security, chemical teacher, two hands, and two eys. This endophora�s research could be concluded that personal pronouns in Arabic language had an important position. In Arabic language, a personal pronouns could be differenciated into kinds and numbers so that although antecedent and personal pronoun had long distance, it still could be found.
