Description
Summary:Hyperglycemia can occur in dogs. Hyperglycemia can be an indicator of some diseases, diabetes mellitus for example. Hyperglycemia in dogs in Yogyakarta is rarely reported. The aim of this research is to evaluate blood glucose value in dogs five years of age, before and after feeding. This research took 25 clinically healthy dogs five years of age. Blood sample was taken aseptically from cephalic vein before and two hours after feeding. Blood sample was put on one side of blood glucose strip test which had been inserted into EasyTouch® The result showed that the average of blood glucose value before and after feeding was 113,08 ± 13,69 mg/dl and 110,28 ± 20,76 mg/dl. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that blood glucose value in dogs was on the normal range and there was no significant differences (P <0,05) between before and after feeding.
