Crowdingisadiscrepancybetween size of the teeth with dentalarchdimensions. The orthodontic cases ofdental crowding position were foundcompared to the other abnormal teeth. Abnormalities of the teeth caused byabnormal tonguevolumeorabnormalmovementsof the tongue, especially when the teethweregrowing. The purposeofthis study wastodetermine the relationshipbetweenthe volume ofthe tonguewith theseverity anteriordental crowding ofmandibular. The research was conducted with ex post facto experience. Tongue impressions and anterior mandibular impressions were made for thirty subjects. Tongue volume was measured by Archimedes principle. Dental crowdingindex was obtainedfrom the differencebetweenmesiodistalwidthandlength ofthe archdental crowding anterior of mandibular. Data were analyzed using Product Moment correlation test by Pearson. The result showed there was negative correlation significantly between tongue volume with dental crowding anterior mandibular index (p<0.01). It was showed that the greater tongue volume, the smaller dental anterior crowding mandibular index or the otherwise. It can be concluded that there was extra strong relationship between tongue volume with dental crowdinganterior of mandibular severity.
