Description
Summary:There have been many research activities dealing with marine geodesy in Department of Geodetic and Geomatic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UGM utilising altimetry satellite data to observe the Indonesian marine condition. Altimetry satellite observation data contain many errors and biases (Chelton, et.al 2001), so every user will need different data for corresponding errors and biases. Data management is required to solve such data problem. Good data management can reduce data processing time, thus avoiding unnecessary steps to implement similar activities in the selection and extraction of the binary data. This project aims to provide a web-based altimetry satellite database for improved altimetry satellite data management. The database is expected to provide easiness to get or manage Jason2 and Envisat satellite data for researches. The design of database was created using a top-down approach method with MySQL software that used PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for programming language. All of that programs were opensource applications. The evaluation of database was done by giving quisioners to the users. This project resulted a web-based satellite altimetry database of Jason2 and Envisat for admin and public users. Admin application allowed admin user to add, editing, deletion, search and download data while public application allowed user to search and download the data. The data consist of characteristic of the satellite data, cycle information and Envisat or Jason2 observation satellite data. Response of the respondent from quistionares can be concluded that: 50 % of respondents claimed the appearance of the database was good, 83,3 % of respondents claimed used of the database was easy, 83,3 % of respondents claimed help menu was helped enough in used of the database, 66,7% of respondents claimed the information was complete, and 50 % of respondents claimed database could help to obtain Envisat and Jason2 satellite data.
