Description
Summary:Electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) is a technological innovation that has huge potentials to improve services of transportation industries. This technology has been adopted by the airline industry, but over time expanded to other transportation, such as bus rapid transit (BRT). The Government of Surakarta City has been adopting e-ticketing for mass transportation, the Batik Solo Trans (BST). E-ticketing is new and still needs to be assessed level of effectiveness. The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the characteristics of e-ticketing users, (2) to measuring the level of satisfaction of e-ticketing users, (3) to analyze the effectiveness of using e-ticketing on Batik Solo Trans services, and (4 ) to develop improved policy implications related e-ticketing system. The method used was a mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) with purposive sampling and quota sampling. The analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis to test Crosstab and Chi-Square. The analysis of the research is descriptive statistical with Crosstab and Chi square test. Analysis by comparing the effectiveness of e-ticketing and manual with indicator of effectiveness are superiority, satisfaction, productivity, efficiency, and abilities. Characteristics of e-ticketing users are dominated by women with age less than 23 years old, as a student, and earn less than Rp 1,000,000.00. E-ticketing users tend to use BST more than non e-ticketing. Effectiveness of e-ticketing can be measured in terms of superiority, productivity, satisfaction, efficiency, and abilities. Productivity has not been effective because the number of e-ticketing users fewer than manual. In terms of satisfaction, e-ticketing users are satisfied with the price and convenience, in terms of facilities did not satisfy. The cost efficiency has not been effective for e-ticketing because has not been able to save on transportation expenses, but in terms of time, have been effective. Ability of facilities is not effective because the machine tabs that are often not function well. The final results for the analysis of the effectiveness e-ticketing showed that a total score of 46% which means the value is less than 50% or not effective. Policy implications for further research related to maintenance of e-ticketing facilities are needed so it can functioned maximal.
