Summary:In today's modern era, many countries develop automotive technologies that are environmental friendly and fuel efficient, Indonesia is included in one of them. Development the number of vehicles in Indonesia is very rapid, due to low economic growth, many found that was not suitable to used or is too old already still operate. So that emissions from the combustion or flue gases of the vehicles is very dangerous for the environment and humans. One of the efforts made by many people is to use water injection system, which serves water to prevent premature combustion, which causes knocking or detonating in the engine. Taken to reduce excessive heat loss, due to latent heat required to change the water phase from liquid phase to the vapor phase. In addition, the presence of water vapor injection, combustion delay are expected to occur. So in the present study performed experiments on four-cylinder Otto engine, steam injected in the intake manifold, and see to what extent the effect of water vapor on the performance of the machine. With the injection of water vapor is found and applied in vehicle that still uses a carburator system to save fuel, environmental friendly and can also increase engine power.
