Description
Summary:This research aims to describe the development of Karya Sosial Katolik in Pekalongan from 1930 to 1960s. This research presents about the development of Catholic education and Catholic healthcare service in Pekalongan. The main problem that I stress out is how was the early founding process of Paroki Pekalongan? Then, what Karya Sosial is generated and what is the purpose and the reason of Paroki Pekalongan organized the karya sosial so that it could be accepted by society in Pekalongan? Why Karya Sosial could develop? What are the factors that make the Karya sosial Katolik? Who are the role in it? How Pekalongan public responsed that? The method that used in this research is the historical method. This research uses primary and secondary sources. The primary sources are the archives and photographs documented events who related to this research. Secondary sources in this research uses journals, articles, books and internet. The result of this research shows that the Chatolic education and healthcare service can thrive and accepted by the Pekalongan people. The first factor is the lack of education and healthcare facilities in Pekalongan in 1930s, particularly in the townships. The second factor is the effort of missionaries who are able to blend and adapt peacefully to Pekalongan society.
