Description
Summary:Nutrients that belong macronutrients that provide energy, includes carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. dietary changes, especially in the urban scale of the traditional diet high in carbohydrates, and low in fat, changing to a low carbohydrates diet, high in fat and protein that shift the food quality to the imbalanced. Excess from one of the macronutrients can result in obesity. Obesity children have a high total intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins can influence the occurrence of dental caries. Dental caries is an oral disease that affects many school-aged children, especially the first molars permanents. The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of amount of macronutrients against first permanent molars dental caries status on obesity in primary school children 8-10 years of age. This research is an analytical observation with cross-sectional design. 40 students, as the subject of the research, were divided into two groups based on the BMI status. They were obese group and normal weight group. This research was started with measuring children weight and height to investigate their IMT status. Then the caries examination was done by using index DMFT. The data which is concerning to the eating habit were obtained by interview the questionnaire of food recall. The data of this research obtained from the difference in caries status, intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the obese group and the group of children with independent t-test. The results of independent t-test analysis showed that the mean and standard deviation of DMF-T, intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the obese group is higher than the normal weight group with significant value p < 0.05. From the results of these studies can be concluded that the obese group having an intake of carbohydrate, fat, and protein is higher than normal nutritional status group and the obese group had a DMF-T first molars permanents is lower than in normal nutritional status.
