Description
Summary:Background: Thitonia difersifolia (Hemsley) A.Gray is a plant that has traditionally been used by the community to cope with various diseases. But to date has not been confirmed whether the extract T.diversifolia have an influence on the kidney organ. This study was therefore conducted to assess whether the ethanol extract T.diversifolia have a detrimental effect creatinine and histopathology of Swiss strain mice. Objective: Standardize the ethanol extract T.diversifolia with marker Tagitinin C and study the effect of ethanol extract standardized T.diversifolia on creatinine and histopathological picture of Swiss strain mice. Methods: This study uses experimental design with Swiss strain mice as a subjects. T.diversifolia ethanol extract standardized to compounds Tagitinin C, each with a dose of 2000 mg/kgBW, 1000 mg/kgBW, 500 mg/kgBW, 250 mg/kgBW, 125 mg/ kgBW, and 1 control group were given 1 mL of distilled water. Test material was given orally for 14 days and then taken through the venous blood of mice retroorbitalis much as 2 mL for creatinine examination, later mice were dissected for histopathological examination of kidney. Results: Creatinine levels are within normal limits and there is no adverse effect on renal histopathologic picture. Conclusions: Leaf extract Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray] contains an active component that is Tagitinin C with the result of TLC Rf 0.32 with a mobile phase WB: EtOAc (2:1
