Sumadiyono, Sp.A(K) ETD Background: According to Survey Kesehatan Rumah Tangga (SKRT) 2004, the prevalence of dental caries was 90.05%. Caries is a disease of dental hard tissues (email, dentin, and cementum) which is caused by the activity of a microorganism in a fermented carbohydrates and characterized by demineralization of dental hard tissues, followed by damage to organic materials. Objective: To determine the relationship between the consumption of cariogenic snacks, frequency, and time of toothbrushing with dental caries in children of Bangirejo, East Sinduadi, and Tajem Elementary School in Yogyakarta. Method: This study was conducted using cross-sectional design. The subjects involved in the study were students of second to sixth grade of Bangirejo, East Sinduadi, and Tajem State Primary School Yogyakarta as many as 110 children. The samples were selected by consecutive sampling. The independent variable were the frequency of consumption of cariogenic snacks, frequency and time of toothbrushing (before bed and after eating), while the dependent variable is the presence or absence of dental caries. Data were analyzed by the X2 (chi square) test to test the hypothesis with α = 0.005. Result: The results showed the prevalence of dental caries was 75% (83 children). Results of statistical test between the frequency of consumption of cariogenic snacks with dental caries showed p = 0.886 [Yogyakarta] : Universitas Gadjah Mada 2013 Thesis NonPeerReviewed , MUHAMAD FAJRI ADDAI and , dr.
