In the field of pharmaceuticals, patents have a big impact on the emergence of new drugs. To distinguish between one product and another, each pharmaceutical company should establish a public awareness with members brand (brand). One of the highest drug use in almost all the world is paracetamol which is used to treat headaches. In Indonesia there are 356 brands of paracetamol-containing analgesic drugs with different product designs. This study aims to find out the links between paracetamol 13 patents registered in the United Stated Patent Trade Organization (USPTO) with various brands of headache medications on the market using a simple analysis. The method used was a descriptive narrative. Data are grouped, tabulated, and analyzed the percentage made in the form of a narrative sentence. Comparison between headache medication containing paracetamol and registered by BPOM (Food and Drug Administration in Indonesia) in 2010 with a list of patents registered paracetamol in United Stated Patent Trade Organization (USPTO) Results of analysis of 8 patents included in the study criteria and 356 brand headache medication containing paracetamol, almost every brand drug has a resemblance to the claims filed by the patent paracetamol in terms of both form active substances, active substance content of paracetamol, formulation or dosage. Brands headache drugs on the market has probably referring to a particular patent. Patent disclosure inspire subject of the pharmaceutical industry to apply its patents in its industry.
