Description
Summary:This thesis aims to analyze the handling of child trafficking that have been conductedby the Government of Indonesia and oversee the challenges of the governments policies and regulations in accordance with the concept of human security. The research method of this thesis includes a descriptive explanative based on literature review, field studies, interviews, document analysis, and print media and online. The author argues that the handling of child trafficking issue in Indonesia has not been resolved due to the reluctant of the government to treat the child trafficking issues as a threat to national security. Rather it is evident that the formulation of the policies and regulation promotes thegovernments interest (state-centered) while undermining the interest of the people (people-centered). The child trafficking condition in Indonesia itself is very concerning.Children are trafficked for the exploitation purposes such as forced labor, prostitution, forced marriage, etc. This modern form of human slavery is clearly a violation of human rights. Indonesia has done various efforts to resolve the issues of child trafficking by implementingvarious policies and regulations regarding the eradication of child trafficking and handling of victims of trafficking both domestically and internationally. However, the trafficking issues have not yet been resolved and will eventually threat the security of its people. This thesis offers a new perspective to oversee the issues which will hopefully assist the Government of Indonesia in her effort to eradicate the child trafficking issues.
