The aim of this research is to study maternal behavior of post partum rats treated with male rat urine. Fifteen post partum female rats were divided into three groups: control group treated with female rat urine and treatment groups (treated with male rat urine age 1 month and 4 month). Urine of male rats given daily for 21 days. Maternal behavior were recorded by digital camera for analyzing the duration of lactation and maternal responsivity time. Blood estradiol levels were measured using ELISA method. Estrous cycle and body weight were observed during research. The result showed that mature male rat urine treatment: decrease the duration of lactation for 71.29%, increase maternal responsivity time significantly on day-10 after parturition, increase blood estradiol on day-20 as 17.19 ± 3.52 pg/mL and stimulate proestrous phase 5 days earlier than normal group. Pheromones in male rat urine disturb maternal behavior and shorten anestrous phase in female post partum rats.
