PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN NATURAL ZEOLITE PADA KOMPOSIT RAMI/EPOXY TERHADAP UJI PENETRASI HELM SNI 1811-2007

The aims of this study is to determine the mechanical properties of the composite before and after the addition of natural zeolite based on ramie fiber epoxy composite. The mechanical properties of the epoxy matrix plus zeolite known from tensile, hardness, and impact testing. The mechanical propert...

Description
Summary:The aims of this study is to determine the mechanical properties of the composite before and after the addition of natural zeolite based on ramie fiber epoxy composite. The mechanical properties of the epoxy matrix plus zeolite known from tensile, hardness, and impact testing. The mechanical properties of the composite epoxy/ramie/zeolite known by density testing, and penetration testing SNI 1811-2007. First step the preparation of epoxy, then zeolite, and ramie fibers. The first phase includes the activities of meshing, mixing, vacuum, molding, curing, and specimens cutting. The second stage, testing the tensile test specimen matrix with ASTM D 638-02, Brinell hardness test, Charpy impact test D 5942-96, and testing of composite specimens with penetration testing SNI 1811-2007. The third stage is the stage of data processing and analysis in order to find the results. The results showed that the addition of natural zeolite in the epoxy matrix affects the mechanical properties of the epoxy matrix. Addition of 12wt% natural zeolite in the epoxy matrix increases the impact strength of 80.74% hardness of 35.04%, and decrease the tensile strength of 3.28%. However, the addition of natural zeolite above 12wt% turned out to lead to lower impact strength, hardness, and tensile strength. When tested penetration helmet SNI 1811-2007, epoxy/ramie/zeolite composite with the addition of 12wt% natural zeolite with 12 layers of hemp fiber, found to comply with SNI 1811-2007.
